IA Talk x Vinnie Neuberg
Disclaimer: 🤫
There are two (2!) things we would like to clarify before you watch this talk: while Vinnie enjoys getting promo e-mails from illustrators, like many art directors, he does NOT enjoy getting promo DMs. We also mention Narratively during the talk. They publish long form NON-FICTION (not fiction) ︎
After getting this out of the way: Vinnie is an art director and illustrator based in Brooklyn, NY. He graduated from RISD in 2013 and has since illustrated for a huge range of clients like The New Yorker, NBC News, VICE, Google and Tumblr to only name a few. As an art director he works at The New York Times where he oversees the Inside The Times section and used to be the illustration editor at Narratively. Also: Vinnie makes music! A creative person through and through! ︎
I am excited to learn more about his beautiful work, his path to becoming an art director and how he navigates all his different influences.
Vinnie knows illustration from both sides. What is he drawn to in other people’s work? What has he found works in a magazine? How can an illustrator make the work of their art director easier? What helps him sell an illustration to the editor? And how has experiencing this side of the industry shaped his own work?
I can’t wait to ask him! ︎
